Kenyan heads Philips’ West African operations from Ghana

Technology firm, Philips has named Mr Abdallah Khamis, a Kenyan national, as the new General Manager & Head of Philips West Africa.

The company announced this January 30, 2013 and says Mr Khamis will head the new Philips West African regional office in Accra, Ghana. His new office will be fully operational by the second quarter of 2013, it added.

This new position, the company explains “reflects Philips’ strategy to invest in and develop the key growth markets of West Africa.”

“My priorities, in a region facing ongoing challenges, are to identify growth opportunities and boost Philips’ commitment to develop sustainable solutions for the West African consumer,” Mr. Khamis said in a statement copied to ghanabusinessnews.com.

Mr. Khamis will report directly to Mr. JJ van Dongen, Senior Vice President and CEO – Philips Africa, the statement indicated.
