Movement for Development Ghana (MFDG), a pro-democracy group, has entreated ministers of State, who would serve under President John Dramani Mahama-led Administration to remain disciplined and also focused in the discharge of their duties.

The ministers, the group said, should endeavour to place the nation’s interest above their own personal interests to ensure the effective harnessing and utilization of state resources.

This was contained in a statement signed by Nana Michael Ampong, the President, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Sunday.

It underscored the need for the nation to step up efforts to achieve her development objectives as spelt out in the Millennium Development Goals to alleviate the plight of the people.

The statement tasked stakeholders to be proactive in dealing with the recurrent challenges such as maternal deaths, road accidents, low level of education amongst women, technological advancement, infrastructural and agricultural development.

It lauded President John Mahama for nominating Mr. Samuel Sarpong, caretaker Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), as the Ashanti Regional Minister.

The statement hoped that having worked tirelessly as MCE in the last four years, Mr. Sarpong would brace the storm and contribute meaningfully to uplifting the Region’s development to appreciable standard.

It wished him well as he prepares for vetting.
