Yendi to receive 100,000 bed nets

Mosquito netThe Ghana Baptist Convention, in collaboration with the Baptist Convention in Geneva, are distributing free insecticide mosquito bed nets to 486 communities in the Yendi Municipality.

The two-year programme, dubbed “more than net”, would distribute 100,000 bed nets to households using 200 monitors who will educate and sensitize the people on the need to use the nets and assist in hanging the bed nets.

Dr. John Upton, President of the Baptist World Alliance, said even though the bed nets distribution had started in the area, it was not enough without adequate education of the people on the need to sleep under the treated nets.

Reverend Emmanuel Mustapha, the Pastor in-charge of the North-Eastern Baptist Church, said after the distribution they would continue to monitor the progress of the project and assess its impact.

He said the Baptist Church had also intervened in areas of sanitation and education and would soon embark on borehole drilling to provide potable and affordable water to people.
