GIFEC equips KAIPTC with ICT tools

GIFECThe Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) on Friday presented 30 desktop computers and ten Rlg laptops at a cost of $60,000 to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Center (KAIPTC).

The donation forms part of GIFEC’s Security Connectivity Project to support security services to improve the quality of services, encourage innovations in technology development, use of technology and general work flows and promote information sharing.

Mr Kofi Attor, Chief Executive Officer of GIFEC said the donation was at the request by the KIPTC to boost the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center and also to promote transparency and accountability.

He said GIFEC had equipped several security institutions with the state of art equipment to ensure reduce bureaucracy within and towards the public at large, and to provide individuals with a minimum level of ICT knowledge and the ability to keep it up to date.

Mr Attor said it was the responsibility of GIFEC to promote ICT in the country and to support institutions such as the KIPTC to achieve its intended goals.

Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Christian Edem Dovlo, Commandant of the KIPTC, said the center had been teaching and training Ghanaians and other nationals for 10 years adding that “GIFEC is amongst the institutions in Ghana that the KIPTC is happy to work with.”

He said the center has a vibrant research center which researches into conflicts resolution and its development in Africa and the world at large.

AVM Dovlo thank GIFEC for the gesture and promised that the computers would be used for its intended purpose.
