Ghana has moved up four places in the first of the New Year’s monthly ranking released by the Federation of international Football association (FIFA), on Thursday.

The Black Stars, fine-tuning for the 29th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, commencing in South Africa on Saturday, January 19, accumulated 788 points, 11 more than what they finished 2012 with.

The Stars, chasing a fifth Nations Cup glory at the biannual gathering are behind Ivory Coast, Algeria and Mali respectively on the latest African table.

The Stars begins the year as the 26th best team globally, four steps away from the previous 30th after FIFA included 46 matches to the last ranking in December, to fashion out the latest.

According to the global federation, 18 of the 46 matches took place in 2012, while the remaining 28 were played in the first half of January 2013.

World champions, Spain, maintained their hold at the top of the summit with Germany and Argentina following in that order.

Ghana is moving towards the right direction it seems. Wonder what we will be able to expect from Ghana at the FIFA World Cup next year 🙂
