Parliament invites public memoranda on Ministers-designate

ParliamentThe Appointments Committee of Parliament is inviting written memoranda from the public on 12 nominees of President John Dramani Mahama for appointment as ministers.

A public announcement of parliament on Tuesday by Alhaji Ibrahim Gombilla, Deputy Clerk to Parliament, said all such memoranda should reach the chairman of the Appointments Committee not later than 12:00 GMT on Tuesday, January 29.

The ministers-designate are Mr Seth Terkper (Finance and Economic Planning), Ms Hanna Serwaah Tetteh (Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration), Mr Akwasi Opong-Fosu (Local Government and Rural Development), Mr Clement Kofi Humado (Agriculture), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang (Education), Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani (Roads and Highways) and Alhaji A.B. Inusah Fuseini (Lands and Natural Resources).

The rest are Alhaji Collins Dauda (Water Resources, Works and Housing), Dr Omane Boama (Communications), Mr Mahama Ayariga (Information), Dr Oteng Adjei (Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation), Nana Oye Lithur (Gender, Children and Social Protection).

The Speaker, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, announced the nominations on the floor of Parliament on January 11 shortly before the House adjourned for a two-week break.

The list of nominees was referred the Appointments Committee of the House.
