Ghana’s President John Mahama has dissolved the National Hajj Committee, his office announced today January 10, 2013.
President Mahama took the decision in consultation with the National Chief Imam, according to a statement.
The dissolution of the Committee “takes immediate effect”, the statement said.
The President has meanwhile appointed Ibrahim Abdul Rauf Tanko, a former Member of Parliament for Yagaba-Kubori in the Northern Region, to manage the activities of the Hajj Committee until a substantive Committee is constituted.
