Black Stars leave for Abu Dhabi camping

Ghana’s Black Stars left for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), last Friday evening to begin preparations for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Nineteen (19) players were part of the delegation led by Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that notable absentees included captain Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, John Boye, Derek Boateng and Albert Adomah, who are scheduled to join the team’s camp in the UAE capital.

Amidaus Professionals midfielder Yahaya Mohamed, will play a no part in the January 19 to February 10 tournament due to a hamstring. He was subsequently left out of the traveling party to the gulf state.

The Stars will be in Abu Dhabi for 11-days, during which they will engage in test matches against Egypt and Tunisia on January 10 and 13 respectively.

The team leaves for South Africa on January 16, four-days before their Group B opener against DR Congo in Port Elizabeth.

The Stars will wrap their campaign at the group phase with matches against Mali on January 24 before facing Niger four days later, all in Port Elizabeth.
