The Management of the Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services (ICODEHS), has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for winning the general election held on December 7 this year.

“ICODEHS wishes to particularly express our commendation for the President-elect for his acclaimed affable character and want to encourage him to endeavour to work with all minority parties for national development”.

This congratulatory message, which was contained in a statement signed by Sheik Mustapha Ibrahim, Executive Chairman of ICODEHS also congratulated the minority political parties for their participation in the just-ended election.

The statement appealed to Ghanaians not to allow the pockets of post-election violence to take away the shine that engulfed the December polls.

“We urge Ghanaians to eschew violence since Ghana is bigger than any individual, political or ethnic group in the country.”

Sheik Ibrahim urged President Mahama to draw strength from “Almighty Allah and the virtues enshrined in the 1992 Constitution of Ghana as he embarks on the four year mandate the good people of Ghana have given him.”

The ICODEHS statement also commended the security agencies, Electoral Commission, political parties and all stakeholders that ensure peace and unity, before, during and after the polls.
