Ghana appoints envoys to Israel, Japan, others

President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday appealed to Ghanaian envoys to portray the tourism potentials of Ghana wherever duty takes them.

He said Ghana have immense tourist potentials, hence the need for the envoys to advertise them and seek collaboration to tap the resources to create job opportunities for the youth

He also advised them to establish themselves in the realm of economic diplomacy.

President Mahama made the appeal when he swore-in seven envoys.

They are made up of Mr Kodjo Asimeng Wadee Ambassador to Liberia, Ernest Sowatey Lomotey, Ambassador to Israel, Albert Francis Yankey, and Ambassador to Ethiopia and Edmond Kofi Deh Ambassador to Japan.

The rest are: Sammie P. Eddico, Ambassador to Switzerland, Alhaji Bawah Gilbert Ayembillah, Ambassador to Iran and Morgan Adokwei Brown, Ambassador to Belgium.

President Mahama said as Ambassadors of Ghana the onus was on them to give adequate audience to Ghanaians resident in their countries of operation, irrespective of their residential status or geographical location.

“Whether they are legal or illegal residents, you have the responsibility of listening to all of them to ensure that they are comfortable in the countries that you are serving,” he added.

Mr Wadee who spoke on behalf of his colleagues thanked President Mahama for giving them the opportunity to serve and promised to promote Ghanaian culture and values for mutual benefit.
