Okocha, Ikpeba to grace Glo-CAF Awards in Ghana

Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, will lead a group of old Super Eagles’ players to the GLO-CAF Awards on Thursday, December 20, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

A statement issued by Glo Ghana Limted, said, Okocha will attend the event with former African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba together with other distinguished footballers to grace the occasion.

The statement said, the two ex- Nigerian Internationals will lead other Super Eagles players to the event where they will have the opportunity meet current and retired internationals from different parts of Africa.

Okocha, two time winner of the CAF Player of the Year award, distinguished himself with Einthract Frankfurt FC of Germany, Fernabache of Turkey, Paris St Germain of France and Bolton Wanderers of England with his amazing skills and inspirational leadership.

Ikpeba, on the other hand, played for Monaco FC, popularly known as ‘Prince of Monaco’ before moving over to Borrussia Dortmund FC in Germany and won the African Footballer of the year Award in 1997.

CAF released the final list of three African players last week for the awards, naming Ivorian Didier Drogba who currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua in Chinese League; Manchester City Midfielder, Yaya Toure; and Camerounian midfielder, Alexander Song who plays in Barcelona Football Club in Spain as the contenders for 2012
