The Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers (GNAPF) has for the first time acquired itself a permanent national office which is located in the capital, Accra.

The new office was officially opened November 30, 2012 after a short ceremony attended by members of the association, officials of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and some civil society organisations.

For more than 15 years, the GNAPF has not had an office accommodation which to serve as its secretariat.

“For more than 15 years, we’ve been moving from one office to another office,” President of the association, Mr Kwadwo Asante told ghanabusinessnews.com.

Mr Asante believes the new office will enhance the smooth running of the association and also help in making effective business transactions.

“Before we can put the administrative structure in place, we need an office and staff,” Mr Asante said.

The new office was facilitated and funded by a Ghanaian firm, Liberty Commodity Limited (LCL) which is an agricultural goods exporter and wholesaler.

Director of Animal Production at MoFA, Mr Asare Mensah said the new GNAPF office would help make the group viable in the sight of the public especially stakeholders who want to engage members for effective business.

The new secretariat has a conference room, four offices, a reception and a kitchen.

The GNAPF was established on July 13, 1995 and was incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) on July 17, 1995.

It was established to plan the development of commercial poultry farming so as to attain national self-sufficiency in poultry and poultry products.
