Tema Metro Assembly to support cooperative societies

Mr Robert Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) says the Assembly would continue to support the promotion of viable cooperative societies in the area.

Mr Ofosuware gave the assurance when he interacted with members of  Sompa Cooperative Trades and Artisans Society at Tema Manhean.

He observed that even though the cooperative concept is bringing people together to help themselves in times of need, the activities of such bodies could impact positively on the society and the nation as a whole.

Mr Ofosuware told members of the society who are mostly fishmongers that the Local Enterprises and Skill Development Programme would assist them to acquire a truck to facilitate their trading activities.

Mr Gordon Gogovi, Metropolitan Director of Cooperatives advised members to uphold the principles of cooperatives, and endeavour to operate within the bye-laws in order to achieve their set goals and objectives.

He urged them to unite as a body and avoid divisive tendencies.
