Seven women to contest Parliamentary seats in Brong-Ahafo Region

Seven women and 122 men filed their nominations to contest for 29 Parliamentary seats in the Brong-Ahafo Region at the close of nominations for Election 2012.

Mr Samuel Boadu, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), told the GNA in an interview that among the women was a 60-year-old teacher, Madam Anna Yeboah, contesting the Asunafo North seat as an independent candidate.

He said both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) are contesting in all the 29 constituencies, while Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and National Democratic Party (NDP) are contesting 21 constituencies each.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is contesting in 12 constituencies, People’s National Convention (PNC) contesting in five constituencies, the United Front Party (UFP) and United Renaissance Party (URP) each contesting in a constituency, with the Great Consolidated People’s Party (GCPP) not contesting in any constituency with 10 independent candidates contesting in seven constituencies.
