Ghana frees 101 detained “Illegal” Chinese miners

The 101 Chinese nationals arrested in raid by the Ghana Police last weekend for engaging in illegal mining have been freed on bail, the Chinese Embassy has confirmed, reports the Xinhua news agency today October 18, 2012.

The Chinese nationals were said to have been released on Wednesday by the Ghanaian authorities.

The Chinese Embassy has offered necessary healthcare services to the detainees, according to the report.

They were detained upon suspicion of engaging in illegal gold mining in the country and one of them said to be 16 years died as a result of the raid conducted by the Ghana Police.

The China Foreign Ministry, last week, expressed ‘serious concern to the Ghana government over the death and the detention’.

Ghana has begun investigations leading to the death of the Chinese national.

    Government loans resulted in all these and will continue since some Ghanaians are so greed, corrupt and unaccountable this continue. Destruction of the environment, floods and since all these minerals are not renewable.
