Rabiu, Acquah start for Ghana against Malawi

Rabiu Mohammed and Afriyie Acquah are named in Ghana’s starting line-up against Malawi in the qualifying for 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

The duo make Kwesi Appiah’s team for the game at the CIVO Stadium in Lilongwe as midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah fails to make the bench after suffering an ankle injury.

Defender John Paintsil gets a starting role at right-back as captain, Asamoah Gyan leads the line for the Black Stars.

The match kicks off at 12:30 GMT.

Ghana won the first-leg 2-0 in Accra last month.

The winner of the tie over two-legs will qualify for next year’s tournament in South Africa.

Starting line-up: Adam Kwarasey, John Paintsil, Harrison Afful, John Boye, Isaac Vorsah, Anthony Annan, Afriyie Acquah, Christian Atsu, Rabiu Mohammed, Andre Ayew, Asamoah Gyan.

Reserves: Fatau Dauda, David Addy, Jonathan Mensah, Daniel Nii Adjei, Mubarak Wakaso, Solomon Asante, Abdul Majeed Warris.
