Three teenagers remanded for robbery

A circuit court at Fiapre, near Sunyani, remanded into police custody three teenagers for allegedly robbing two people of their money and personal belongings, and inflicting wounds on one of the victims with a pair of scissors.

The pleas of Dosey Collins and Collins Ofori, both students, and Abraham Alhassan, unemployed, were not taken, and they would re-appear before court on October 16.

Police Chief Inspector Kingsley Baafi told the court presided over by Mr Benjamin Yaw Osei that the complainants, Mr Collins Morgan and Ms Rebecca Nyarko, were attacked and robbed by the suspects at Penkwase, near Sunyani, at dawn on September 28.

The prosecution said the teenagers emerged from a spot near the Ghana Muslims Educational Unit, assaulted the victims, and Dosey armed with a pair of scissors threatened to kill the complainants if they refused to surrender everything on them.

Chief Insp. Baafi said Morgan sustained injuries on the chest when a struggle ensued between him and Dosey, who was wielding a pair of scissors.

The prosecution said Dosey snatched a polythene bag containing Identity Cards, necklace, mobile phones, keys and other personal belongings of Nyarko.

Chief Inspector Baafi said the complainants raised the alarm but the suspects bolted before people could come to their  rescue.

The prosecution said when Morgan was returning home after a while, he spotted the suspects, and he (Morgan) managed to snatch a  polythene bag containing a pair of scissors and other implements from one of the suspects, and reported the matter to the Police.
