Ghana to sign $18.6m loan deals at 2012 IMF/World Bank Meetings

Ghana is expected to sign two loan agreements worth $18.6 million during the 2012 World Bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings which starts October 9, 2012 in Japan.

The country will sign the two loan deals with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) which is providing $8.6 million and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) giving Ghana $10 million.

A statement issued by the Finance Ministry said the two are co-financing the Trauma and Acute Care Centre Project at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Rural Integrated Development Project.

Meanwhile, a Deputy Finance Minister Mr Fifi Kwetey is leading a government delegation to the IMF/World Bank Meetings.

Other members of the delegation are the Acting Governor, Bank of Ghana Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah, the Director General of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Regina O. Adutwum and officers from the Finance Ministry.

The meeting ends October 14, 2012.

The Ghana delegation is also expected to attend the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting which precedes the IMF/World Bank meetings.
