Coach Kwesi Appiah left behind on Black Stars trip

Kwesi Appiah – Black Stars coach

Black Stars trainer Kwasi Appiah is scheduled to join the Black Stars at their training camp in Kenya to prepare for this weekend’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

Appiah will leave in the company of his assistant, Maxwell Konadu, who jetted into town on Monday morning after guiding the Black Satellites to qualification for the 2013 African Youth Championship despite suffering 1-3 loss against the Moroccans last Sunday in Rabat.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Black Stars coach was left out of the traveling party involving the local contingent after failing to get a seat on the Kenya Airways flight bound for Nairobi.

According to the airline, only five seats were available which saw Daniel Nii Adjei, Fatau Dauda, Philemon McCarthy, Emmanuel Clottey and welfare officer Sabahn Quaye making the trip, whilst Appiah was left behind to join the remaining group 24-hours later.

They are expected to be joined by their foreign counterparts on Monday to begin preparations for the crucial qualifier against the Flames.

The Stars will leave for Lilongwe on Friday for the encounter fixed for Saturday, October 8 at the Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Ghanaians were 2-0 winners in the first leg held in Accra last September, meaning the Flames must score at least three unanswered goals to oust the four-time African champions from the roll call for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
