Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai scores 94% pass in BECE

The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District scored 94 percent pass in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), a performance that had been hailed as remarkable.

Mr Samuel Nyarko, District Education Director, said out of the 2,802 candidates presented, 2,618 qualified for senior high school (SHS) admission.

He said a total of 151 students failed the examination. Another 33 did not show up at the examination centres at all.

Mr Nyarko told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that 63 out of the 81 public and private junior high schools (JHS) in the area scored 100 per cent passes with many of the students obtaining aggregate six.

The only dark spot was the Adobewura JHS, which scored zero per cent. None of the 19 candidates passed.

The district last year scored 84 per cent pass in the BECE.

Mr Nyarko appealed to the teachers not to be complacent but to continue to work hard not only to sustain the strong performance but improve on it.

The pupils should also accept to study and give respect to their teachers.
