World Bank explores new ways to boost trade relations in West Africa

Some World Bank Country Directors in Africa met in Abuja, Nigeria from September 26-28, 2012 to discuss Africa’s regional integration and trade opportunities.

The Country Directors have been discussing new and other ways to improve trade relations among the West African neighbours.

World Bank Ghana Country Director, Yusupha Crookes took part in the deliberations together with his counterparts Nestor Coffi (Niger), Vara Songwe (Senegal) and Harve Assah (Togo).

The World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly who chairs the Bank’s integration group in the region expressed optimism in the great potential that such enhanced intra African trade promises for the economies of individual countries and the huge number of jobs that would be created across borders in the process.
