Gold Fields appoints Ghanaian as new country manager

Gold Fields Limited has appointment Ghanaian businessman Pierre Charles Coussey as the new country manager for its country operations, the miner announced today September 26, 2012.

Mr Coussey, who is currently chairman of Marine Technology Consultants, will assume the new role on October 1, 2012, the miner said in a statement.

“We are delighted to have a businessman of Mr Coussey’s stature on board as our country manager in Ghana,” said Peet van Schalkwyk, Executive Vice-President of Gold Fields’ West Africa Region.

Mr Coussey has a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Political Economy from the Open University in London and a BSc in Econometrics from the University of London.

He has served as an economic and international relations advisor to the governments of the United States and Ghana. He currently sits on the boards of a number of marine and agriculture companies in Ghana. His professional career includes positions as Technical Advisor to the Chairman of Heinz Seafood’s division and at MW Brands Europe, amongst other senior executive roles.

The miner’s Ghana operations include Gold Fields Ghana Limited and Abosso Goldfields Limited.
