Ace golfer Koblah wins Ghana Open Championship

Ace golfer, Emos Koblah achieved a historic feat at the 80th Ghana Open at the Celebrity Golf Club, over the weekend by successfully defending his title.

Koblah, winner of last year’s event held in Kumasi, made a total of 275 points from the four days of intense competition to pick away the prestigious and enviable title.

He took home, a cash prize of GH¢10,000 cash prize and a trophy.

Vincent Torgah, placed second by recording 288 points, with S.K. Klah taking home the third prize with a point build up of 290. They were presented with trophies, cash prizes of GH¢5,000 and GH¢3,000 respectively for their efforts.

In the amateur division Group A, E. Kofi Owusu grossed 221 to win that division, with Owusu Bonsu making 227 points, whilst Y. Dogbe placed third at the end of the competition.

The three winners took home, trophies and Black Berry phones as their prizes.

In Group B, Captain Gyima Kwakye swept aside competition from Richard Atsu and Kusi Boateng to emerge the winner with a net score of 221.

Though Atsu finished on same point with Captain Kwakye, he lost on count-back, whilst Kusi Boateng had 222 points to place third and took home trophies, phones and pen drives.

The Group C event saw  N. Shetti winning by 217 points, with A. Baku making 218 points to place second, as V. Deporti finished third.

Jessica Tei caused a major surprise when she beat veteran golfer Mona Myers-Lamptey Captan and Beatrice Vetch-Bempong in the ladies category.

In the juniors’ category, Alfred Quarhie picked the ultimate prize in the boys event and took home umbrella, lunch bag and pen drive, with Dorothy Amoakwa receiving the girls’ ultimate prize of an umbrella, launch bag and a pen drive.
