Valley View University introduces Masters programmes

The Valley View University (VVU) has inaugurated its School of Graduate Studies with the introduction of courses such as Masters in Business Administration with options in Banking and Finance and Strategic Management.

Other courses introduced include, Masters in Science in Environmental Development in collaboration with St Andrew University in Michigan, USA, and Post Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Ministry.

Speaking during the inauguration, Professor Dr Dr Daniel Buor, Vice Chancellor, VVU, noted that the inauguration of the Graduate School was very significant since it was a sign that the University had attained a charter status.

“Every university of charter status must necessarily have a graduate section else it is classified as a university college. The National Accreditation Board has been expecting such an establishment from us”, he said.

He noted that whereas the undergraduate level gave training in general areas, it was at the graduate level that introduced specialization, assumed the utility status, and exploited critical and analytical thinking.

He said in due time the Graduate School would be given all the needed infrastructural improvements, adding that the School would also enjoy semi financial autonomy.

Prof Dr Dr Buor said the School would among its functions, recommend the appointment of external examiners for approval by the Academic Board, approve dissertation topics submitted by the departments, recommend candidates for awards of degrees as well as liaise with external universities on post-graduates issues.

He said a Board of Graduate Studies, which would be chaired by the Dean, Dr Daniel Bediako, would manage the School.

He said currently the VVU was ranked eighth among best universities in the country, pledging that all would be done to make the university the most preferred in the country.

Dr Daniel Bediako, Dean of Graduate School, pledged to work with all for the betterment of the School, adding that more courses would be soon be introduced.
