Ghana’s gas pricing policy awaits cabinet approval – Energy Minister

Pricing of gas from Ghana’s oil fields will soon be finalized as the policy document is currently before cabinet awaiting approval.

The draft National Gas Pricing Policy which forms part of the Gas Master Plan, according to Energy Minister Dr Joe Oteng-Adjei, has been developed and submitted to cabinet.

Dr Oteng-Adjei told the press in Accra September 6, 2012 that the “Draft National Gas Pricing Policy which forms part of the Gas Master Plan has been developed and submitted to cabinet awaiting approval.”

The essence of the gas pricing policy, the Minister explains is to guarantee full participation in the gas industry by oil companies and the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC).

He hinted that procurement processes are underway for the development of a Gas Master Plan.

Ghana officially pumped oil in December 2010, making an industry record using about 40 months from discovery to production.
