Gov’t urged to provide Regional Hospitals with ENT equipment

Mama Ayipe Ama, the Third, Queen-mother of Abutia-Kloe in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, on Friday appealed to the government to equip Regional Hospitals to provide the Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) services.

According her, due to the lack of ENT equipment, most Regional hospitals refer ENT patients to the  Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Making the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema, Mama Ayipe said, the provision of the equipment would enable those hospitals to treat promptly ENT cases, to help save the lives of the ordinary people.

She said her appeal has become necessary because the authorities at the  Ho Regional Hospital had to refer her 39-year old brother, Jonathan Kutu, a gas filling station attendant at Ho, to the ENT Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Mama Ayipe commended the doctors at the ENT Department of  Korle-Bu, for their commitment, dedication and devotion to duty, and urged them to keep it up.
