NPP party agents absent in Ho voter exhibition centres

Only agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were present at biometric voters register exhibition centres visited by the Ghana News Agency in the Ho Municipal area.

At least two agents of the Party were observing the exercise at each polling station.

Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed surprise at the absence of his party agents to observe the exercise, when reached by the GNA for his comments.

He said appropriate arrangements were made for the Electoral Commission (EC) to give accreditations to its agents to observe the exercise and wondered what might have been amiss.

Mr Nuworsu, however, said “appropriate cross-checks” would be done to ensure that the Party was duly represented at the stations.

Mr Ben Tenu, Administrator at the Regional Office of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) said they were not instructed to place agents at the polling stations.

Ms Bridget Agblege, a Secretary at the Regional Office of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), said arrangements were being made to place agents at the polling stations starting from tomorrow, Tuesday.

Meanwhile at the Klefe E.P Primary, Atsatime-Anyigbe Polling Station, a total of 125 persons out of 632 on the register had checked on their details by 1330 hours on Monday.

At Hoviepe E.P JHS, Ms Mawuse Peggy Agbotse, the Exhibition Officer said a total of 214 persons out of 345 had checked their registrations by noon on Monday.

She said some people requested that other names be added to their names already in the register.

Some of the Party agents told the GNA that some of the eligible voters on the register had their names wrongly spelt while others had wrong ages against their names.

The exercise was to afford those who had registered during the last registration exercise to cross-check their data, make corrections and also ensure that their names are on the voters’ roll.
