Newly created La Dade-kotopon Municipal Assembly gets Presiding Member

The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly, has elected Mr Augustine Nii Amoah Nai as its first Presiding Member.

The Municipal Assembly is a newly created Assembly that was inaugurated in July, this year was curved out of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

Mr Amoah Nai, 35, a teacher and an environmentalist, is Assembly Member for Abafum-Kowe-Abese electoral area.

Mr Amoah Nai who was a sole candidate secured 14 votes from the 14 members present at an emergency meeting.

Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Chief Executive of AMA, commended the assembly members for their preparedness to serve the assembly and Ghana.

He said government has always desired to bring development to the door steps of ordinary Ghanaians, to enable them to effectively participate in the country’s development, saying “for this to materialized it is the duty of the Assembly members to help government do so”.

Dr Vanderpuije said asked the assembly members to be guided by rules and principle set by AMA to help them work efficiently and effectively to satisfy the people.

“You have been exposed to high level of good leadership in terms of making good decision to ensure development.

“If at the end of the day, your decisions do not march with the interest your people then you should know that you have failed”.

Dr Vanderpuije advised the assembly members to focus on improving health, education, sanitation, roads and to develop policies to create jobs for the youth.

He pledged AMA’s support to move the assembly forward.
