Load shedding hits Northern Ghana

The Electricity Company of Ghana and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO),  the company which distributes electricity to the northern sector of the country, has commenced load shedding in some parts of the country due to the technical challenges faced by the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAGPCO).

This has subsequently affected gas supply to the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Sunon Asogli Power Plant.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency noted that the  problem had reduced power generation from the VRA and also led to the shut down of the Sunon Asogli Power Plant .

The statement indicated that engineers of WAGPCO were working to resolve the problem, adding that normal power supply would be restored as soon as the problem was resolved.
