Man caught stealing TV, mobile phone jailed 10 years

A circuit court in Tarkwa has sentenced a 19-year-old illegal miner, Mohammed Osumanu, to 10 years imprisonment for stealing a television set and a mobile phone.

The convict, who just returned from prison for committing a similar offense, pleaded guilty.

Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court that on August 13, the convict jumped the fence wall of the complainant, proprietor of Purity Graceland Preparatory School.

The court head that Osumanu used a pick axe he found in the compound of the complainant to break two padlocks fixed on the door, entered the room of proprietor and made away with the items.
