Church should play active role to make polls peaceful – DCE

Mr De-graft Fokuo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asante-Akim South, has urged the church to provide the needed leadership to promote tolerance and fellow-feeling among Ghanaians.

They should use their enormous influence to discourage the people from acts that tend to create division, tension and confusion.

He said this has become particularly more necessary as the nation made preparations towards the December Presidential and Parliamentary polls.

Mr Fokuo was speaking at the opening of the Annual District Conference of the Presbyterian Church Choir Union at Banso.

It was held under the theme: “The Holy Spirit and the Believer.”

The DCE said it should not be lost on anyone the importance of peace to socio-economic development, adding that, all should therefore work together to ensure a violent-free election.

He urged the choristers to lead Christ-like lives by exhibiting high sense of morality, humility and modesty and that they should use their music to spread the word of God and turn people away from bad and evil conduct.

The Reverend Joseph Dankyi Baafi, District Minister of the Church, commended the union for its contribution to the growth of the church and urged them to be good ambassadors of the church.
