English FA charges Ghanaian-born Emmanuel Frimpong over “improper” twitter comments

The English Football Association said July 24, 2012 it has charged Ghanaian-born and Arsenal’s player Emmanuel Frimpong over the midfielder’s alleged foul comments on social media website Twitter.

“Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong has been charged under FA Rule E3 for improper conduct in relation to recent comments made on Twitter,” the FA said on its website.

According to the FA, the allegation is that Frimpong posted comments amounting to improper conduct and/or which brought the game into disrepute, which included a reference to ethnic origin, faith or race.

Meanwhile, it said the player has until July 27, 2012 to respond to the charge.
