Ghana Revenue Authority sensitizes clients in Ashanti Region on operational reforms

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has organized a day’s forum to sensitize clients in the Ashanti Region on operational reforms in the various divisions of the tax collection body.

Prominent among these are the GRA modernization programme, self assessment and vehicle importation.

Mrs Jemima Mills of the Modernization Programme Office, GRA, said the ongoing reforms including automation of the operations, would harmonize the processes and procedures, promote efficiency and reduce cost of tax collection and compliance.

The GRA, she said was training its staff at all levels to ensure professionalism in service delivery, while focusing on customer friendly tax administration.

She said the coming together of all the tax collection agencies under one authority was to optimize revenue, reduce cost of tax collection and achieve high level of staff competencies.

Mr Ernest Owusu, acting Assistant Commissioner, Medium Tax Office at Asokwa – Kumasi, said continued education of tax payers could aid voluntary tax compliance.

Nana Yaw Owusu Akwannuasa, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, called for regular interaction between tax collectors and payers.
