Ghana’s Sarkodie wins 2012 BET Award for Best International Act

Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie was named joint winner with Nigeria’s Wizkid as Best International Act (Africa) at the 2012 BET Awards held July 1, 2012 in Los Angeles.

Sarkodie becomes the first Ghanaian to win that category of the BET Awards ever since the country’s musicians started to get nominations for the awards. Kojo Antwi and D-Black were previous nominees.

This is the second time that two artistes have jointly won the Best International Act (Africa) category. 2Face and D’Banj, both from Nigeria, shared the award in 2011.

The 2012 BET Awards was hosted by actor Samuel L. Jackson.
