Bank of Ghana raises policy rate to 15%

The Bank of Ghana has today June 13, 2012 raised the policy rate to15 per cent.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana on Wednesday announced the increase from 14.5 per cent in April 2012 to 15 per cent.

The governor of the central bank Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur told reporters in Accra that the Bank raised the lending rate because of the upside risk to inflation, the weakness in business confidence and a tight credit stance.
