Guinness, Tullow Oil lead Ghana Stock Exchange Composite Index Higher

The GSE-Composite Index (GSE-CI), the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange, rose 8.49 points to 1,027.33 points from 1,018.84 points on Friday with a year-to-date return of 6.02 per cent.

The GSE-Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI), which tracks the performance of listed financial stocks, also rose by 0.95 points to 879.67 points from 878.72 points with a year-to-date change of 1.92 per cent.

There were six gainers and two losers during the session.

Tullow Oil Plc gained GH¢0.01 to GH¢38.55, Ghana Oil Company was up GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.49 and UT Bank GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.33.

Others are Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited went up GH¢0.09 to GH¢2.06, Cocoa Processing Company gained GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.03 and CAL Bank’s rise was from GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.23.

On the flip side State Insurance Company slipped GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.34 and Benso Oil Palm Plantation dropped GH¢0.01 to GH¢1.63.

Market Capitalisation close the session at GH¢54,894.68 million from GH¢54,863.81 million on Friday.

Shares traded are 250,041 valued at GH¢113,300.20.
