First defeat for Kwesi Appiah as Zambia beats Ghana by lone goal in World Cup qualifier

A goal from inspirational captain Christopher Katongo was enough for Zambia as they beat the Ghana Black Stars in the 2014 World Cup qualifier played in Ndola today June 9, 2012.

The Zambian captain’s goal in the first half of the game came through a deflection when he fired a shot with his left foot.

This is the first defeat suffered by Kwesi Appiah since he was appointed permanent coach of the Black Stars.

Zambia lost 2-0 to Sudan during their first game of the qualifiers when Ghana thrashed Lesotho by 7-0 in Kumasi.
