US, Boeing to provide technical assistance for Ghana plane crash investigations

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the US and aircraft maker Boeing will help Ghana to investigate the Saturday plane crash involving Allied Air Cargo which led to the death of at least 10 persons in a mini bus.

In a statement, Boeing said it will join the NTSB to provide assistance to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority in its investigation of the crash.

“At the request of the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Boeing Air Safety Investigation will join with the NTSB to provide technical assistance to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority in its investigation,” the company said.

The Boeing Company also offered its “deepest sympathies” to the families and friends of those lost as a result of the accident.

Ghana’s Transport Minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda on June 3, 2012 inaugurated a five-member Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee to look into the matter.

The Allied Air plane involved in the accident was a Boeing 728-200 cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-BJN. The plane crashed after it skidded off the airport runway during landing at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

Excellent Excellent, this is what Ghana need and transfer of knowledge to avoid future mistakes in investigating. Get the flight data records, Pilots should have been tested at the scene for any drinking or fatigue. Excellent news with NTSB, Boeing assistance is about time.
