Ghana Premier League: Ashgold beat Kotoko at Obuasi

Ashanti Gold beat uncrown league champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko 3-2 in an uncompromising 29th week Glo Premier League match played at Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

It was a match in which both sides played their hearts out with Kotoko going into attack right from referee William Agbovi’s whistle but a chance by Michael Anaba in the 8th minute hit the side net.

Ashgold counter attacked later with striker Yakubu Mohammed opening the scores in the 15th minute when his terrific shot beat goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.

Kotoko fought back gallantly but Fatau Dauda in post for Ashgold denied Kotoko a goal when he saved Ben Acheampong and Michael Akuffo shots at goal in the 35th and 40th minutes respectively.

Back from recess, Ashgold made it 2-0 when Isaac Amoako failed to grab Mohammed’s shot and with Aaron Amoah hovering around put the ball into the net in the 53rd minute.  Three minutes later Nana Poku made it 3-0 when he connected home Daniel Asamoah’s cross.

Kotoko accepted the challenge and attacked in burst and their efforts were rewarded when substitute Richard Yeboah and Daniel Acheampong reduced the score-line to 3-2 in the 64th and 67th minutes respectively.

They continue their attack to level up but Fatau Dauda was at his best to save the situation until the final whistle.
