Addressing a press conference at its headquarters in Tunis, Tunisia to announce the AGM, Ms. Cecilia Akintomide, Secretary-General and Vice President of the Bank, outlining the agenda for the AGM said the AfDB will consider the membership application of South Sudan to be a member of the Bank.
South Sudan became an independent nation in July 2011.
In April this year, it gained membership of the International Monetary Fund, becoming its 188th member. In the same month, the country joined the World Bank.
