Body of Registration Officer retrieved from Tano River

The body of Mr Gideon Kwarteng Yeboah, Service Personnel and Biometric Voter Registration Officer who got drowned in the Tano River, has been retrieved by a search party.

A source from the Jomoro District Office of the Electoral Commission made this known to the Ghana News Agency on Friday.

The source said that the body was found after a three day intensive search by the people of Mepeasem.

Yeboah got drowned when a boat on which he and some other electoral officers were traveling hit a rock in the Tano River and split into two on April 24.

All the passengers swam to safety with the exception of Yeboah who hails from Bibiani in the Western Region.

Yeboah, a National Service Personnel teaching at Kwabre near Elubo and his colleagues were traveling to the District Electoral Office at Half Assini to submit a report on the third phase registration exercise, the source said.

The source said the body of Yeboah has been deposited at the Half-Assini government hospital mortuary for autopsy.
