An international conference on sustainable development begins next week in Stockholm, Sweden ahead of Rio +20.

Rio+20 is a UN conference on sustainable development, scheduled for Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, June this year.

The Stockholm +40 conference is scheduled to take place between April 23 and April 25, and would be opened by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

The conference is to commemorate the first UN global conference on human environment, held in Stockholm in 1972, and serve as the final informal ministerial meeting ahead of the UN Summit Rio+20 in June.

The conference would be organised on three main themes: sustainable innovations, sustainable production, and sustainable living, which would be discussed in open seminars and panel debates.
