Two university students robbed at gunpoint at Kejetia

Two students of the Asante-Mampong College of Agriculture and the University of Education, Winneba, were at dawn on Tuesday attacked and robbed of their cash and other valuables at gunpoint at the Kajetia lorry terminal.

Fredrick Appiahene and Dramani Karim had arrived there at about 0230 hours to join a vehicle to the school to write an examination.

Narrating their harrowing experience to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), they said no sooner had they arrived at the station than the robbery gang surrounded them.

They pulled guns and machetes and began firing into the air to scare other people including travelers and traders at the terminal.

Appiahene was stabbed near the elbow and his cell phone, luggage and cash seized from him whiles Dramani who tried to flee was also robbed of his cash and valuables.

A driver at the station, Farouk Ibrahim, accused the Kajetia police of not doing enough to give security protection to travelers and other operators at the terminal.

He said drivers and station masters are forced to close early because of growing harassment by robbers.
