Mr. Bright Akwetey, a presidential aspirant of the onvention Peoples Party (CPP), said the party would deal ruthlessly with corruption if voted into power in Election 2012.

He said both the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) have done little about corruption, weakening the state and its apparatus to delivery appropriately on  the development needs and aspirations of the citizenry.

Mr. Akwetey was addressing delegates of the party in Wa, to introduce himself to them and solicit their votes ahead of the party’s national delegates’ congress.

He said the NDC had failed to improve Ghana; rather the situation was deteriorating and the country was grappling with huge unemployment.

Mr. Akwetey accused the NDC of bad governance which according to him was denying the people their welfare.

The CPP presidential aspirant said  said the CPP’s philosophy was people’s centred and not property owing democracy, being championed by the NPP and the social democracy ideology of the NDC, which they could not  properly define.

He said “The NDC’s action and functioning clearly show that it is  not social in nature as it sold  national property, including the Ashanti Gold, factories and companies to private entrepreneurs and foreign nationals.

Mr Akwetey said a CPP administration would not succumb to  foreign bodies and inflicted hardships on Ghanaians.

He said “political parties and their leaders must always take into consideration the interest of Ghana and her people first, before their selfish interests.”

Mr Akwetey said Ghana needed a strong state that would be able to provide  development for the people.

The CPP aspirant said the party had been in the political wilderness for a long time and needed a strong and dedicated leader to galvanise the people to vote for the party to win the 2012 elections, to implement its policies and programmes.

Mr. Akwetey appealed to delegates to vote massively for him to lead the party to victory in the 2012 elections.
