Kwesi Appiah is new Black Stars coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed James Kwesi Appiah as the substantive coach of the Black Stars, a statement from the association confirmed April 9, 2012.

The Executive Committee of the GFA confirmed the appointment of Kwesi Appiah, a former Black Stars captain, at a meeting in Accra on Monday, according to the statement.

Appiah will meet the executive committee of the GFA April 10, to formalize the deal, it added.

He has been the assistant coach of the Black Stars since 2008 and led the Black Meteors to win the gold medal at the 2011 All African Games.
