Hold evening classes for your students – DCE

Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive , has called on community schools with electricity to organize evening studies  for their basic school pupils.

He said the extent of such classes should be superintended by school management boards, parent teacher associations and community leaders.

Mr Ganyaglo said this when speaking at the commissioning of a six-unit classroom block, office and toilet facilities for the District Assembly Primary School at Vakpo-New Adomi.

He said the extension of electricity to schools was done in readiness for the implementation of ICT knowledge enabling programmes for teachers and pupils in schools.

He said communities were expected to complement the efforts of government in donating computers to their schools once electricity was extended to their schools.

Mr Ganyaglo said the Kpando District Assembly had recently extended electricity to 21 basic schools in the district and that the school block project was facilitated by Miss Ekua Sena Dansua, Minister of Tourism and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.

Mr Ganyaglo said government was acting in many ways to raise standards in schools across the country including improved infrastructure adding that the Kpando District had reduced the number of schools under trees in the district from 50 to 20.

Madam Dora Agorsor, Kpando District Director of Education, said it was important that the Vakpo-New Adomi community members worked with teachers to raise enrolment in the school and that would call for the need for additional teachers as requested by the Headmistress Madam Beatrice Agordzo, in her address.

Mr Robert Kanati, Chairman of the PTA of the school, said the enrollment reduced over time due to the precarious nature of the previous school blocks and express the hope that parents who withdrew their children from the school would bring them back with the new development.

Mr Ganyaglo, together with Miss Dansua, also commissioned a 3-unit classroom block at Botoku and a 10-Seater KVIP toilet at Vakpo-Todzi.
