Asante-Mampong Assembly votes GH¢90,000 towards workers accommodation

The Asante-Mampong Municipal Assembly has voted GH¢90,000.00 towards the construction of decent housing for its workers.

Mr Daniel Appau-Ohyeamang, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said a two-storey building with boys’ quarters, would be built to end the severe accommodation challenges faced by employees of the assembly.

The project would be financed from its internally generated funds (IGF).

He was addressing an ordinary meeting of the assembly at Asante-Mampong.

The assembly had as of the end of March, collected a total of GH¢54,994.83 in IGF, and this represented 61.21 per cent of the GH¢89,845.25 target.

Mr Appau-Ohyeamang described the performance as encouraging but said they still needed to redouble the revenue mobilization effort to enable them to undertake more development projects to better the lives of the people.

They had already bought a bulldozer and a tipper truck to hire out to the public to bring in more revenue.

There is the added advantage of using these to reshape some feeder roads that are in bad state.

He said a special committee had been set up to oversee the proper management and operation of the bulldozer and truck.

He expressed the optimism that, if run well, these could significantly assist to strengthen the financial position of the assembly.

Mr Appau-Ohyeamang spoke of plans to build a new market at Adidwan to make it easier for farmers to sell their farm produce.

He used the occasion to appeal to the people to ensure that the biometric voter registration exercise was conducted in a peaceful and smooth manner.
