Not all prisoners would be allowed to register – Electoral Officer
The Afigya-Kwabre District Electoral Officer, Mr Joshua Ofori-Prempeh, says not all prisoners would be allowed to take part in the upcoming biometric voter registration exercise.
Those serving jail-terms for electoral offences would be unqualified to register.
He was responding to questions at a forum on the registration organised at Kodie jointly by the Electoral Commission (EC) and KAB Governance Consult.
It was meant to deepen the understanding of the people and remove all lingering concerns they have about the compilation of the new electoral roll.
The forum brought together political party executives, assembly members, heads of department and the general public.
Mr Ofori-Prempeh cautioned minors and aliens to stay away from the exercise to avoid trouble.
He appealed to the people to be vigilant to prevent multiple-registration and assure the nation of a clean and credible voters’ register.
Afigya-Kwabre with its 139 polling stations, would have 228 field officers, three supervisors and two technicians to carry out the job.
