Ghana Social Opportunity Project releases GH¢880,000 for development projects

The Ghana Social Opportunity Project (GSOP) under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has voted GH¢880,000 to undertake a number of development projects in the Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region.

Mr Joseph Foster Andoh, District Chief Executive (DCE), has as a result of that, signed a contract with Ancomec Company, a road contracting firm for the construction of a 4.2 road from Twifo Atwereboanda to Twifo Kwamoano in the District.

Other projects include the rehabilitation of Ampenkro road to Kurowforformu, Akatakyi Junction to Lomnava town and Wamaso to Kojokrom.

The rest are Mfuom to Gya Aware, Mantekrom junction to Mantekrom town, a six unit classroom block each at Afiaso and Akatakyi and tree planting project at Twifo Ayaase.

Mr Andoh said the programme is meant to alleviate extreme poverty by engaging the people to work for payment and that by directly engaging the local people to provide skilled and unskilled labour, they will assume ownership responsibility of the projects and take good care of them to prolong their lifespan.

Mr Robert Austin, National Coordinator of GSOP accompanied by some officials of GSOP, paid a working visit to the Ayaase tree planting project where 3,200 trees had so far been planted and interacted with the workers.
