Ghana maintains FIFA rankings at 23rd

Ghana’s position on the FIFA rankings at 23rd was unchanged new rankings released today March 7, 2012 shows.

With 820 points, Ghana is still second-best in Africa with Ivory Coast leading the continent.

Algeria was third with new African champions, Zambia taking fourth on the continental ranking table.

Ghana was fourth at the 2012 Nations Cup, which many believe was a poor placement for the Black Stars given their dominance on the African continent.

Spain is number one in the world with 1561 points, followed by Netherlands with 1379 points.

According to FIFA, ninety-one games were taken into account for the March edition of the rankings, three-quarters of which were friendly matches.
